How To Create A Character
Here's some fast and loose guidelines on a liner way to make a character.
Here's the Character Sheet.
Here is a page full of Pre-Made Characters to get a hand of this game. It is at least recommended that you look at these first.
0. Conceptualize a character. What do you want to play? Someone strong, someone made of fire, a specific character from a show or another game? Most of the things in this game are named in a straight forwards way. Hitting dudes, get some Martial Skills, deciding when dudes should drown, Elemental Skills, Hydromancy. Your character concept should influence the rest of your character, or it can be ignored entirely.
1. (Optional) Choose a Race. Be a human, or a dragon, or a zombie, or a bee, or something. They're all good but Animals, and Shape Shifters are more reliant on somewhat complex mechanics/more skills, so keep that in mind.
2. Increase your Total Might, Total Skill, or Total Magic by +2. If that stat is your highest stat, instead increase it by +1.
3. You have 10 Skill Points, so choose your Skills. Pick something up to do with your Primary Action, and pick up Tireless Defender to improve your Block, Precise to improve your Parries, or Improve Dodge to improve your Dodge so that you don't die. If you don't know which one to choose, Block. Its always good. Try to pick up something which'll be useful outside of battle so you don't get bored whenever stabbing isn't happening.
4. (Optional) Choose your Interests. If you don't know what you want, or what you want is to save time, pick up Traveler 3 times and gain +9 Maximum HP or Maximum Mana.
5. You have 25 Gold, so choose your gear. You want a Melee Weapon, a Ranged Weapon (and Ammo), you might want some Armor, and you'll want food (just some rations will do) and tools (a light source, always buy rope, etc.) Tools wise, if you're not in the Caring At All business, just pick up a Bag O' Adventuring Gear or two, and call it a day.
